Count lines in a block of text.
Every line separated by a line break is counted. An empty final line can affect the total depending on the text you paste.
A line count reports how many lines are present in a block of text. The result can depend on line breaks, especially when text has been copied from an editor that wraps long lines visually without inserting actual newline characters.
A paragraph that wraps onto four visual lines on your screen may still be one text line if there are no newline characters. Conversely, a list with five explicit line breaks can contain multiple lines even when it is displayed in a narrow or wide window.
Do not confuse visual wrapping with actual line breaks. If a system requires a maximum number of lines, check the source text and the exact newline structure rather than relying on how it appears on screen.
Use the Word Counter for words, Character Counter for total characters, and Sentence Counter for sentence-level structure. These measures answer different questions about the same text.
